In 2021 South West Water pumped raw sewage into the River Fal for over 7500 hours making it the most polluted river in England.​​

This work highlights the devastating consequences of unchecked sewage discharge. The Fal and its surrounding rivers are not just waterways; they are ecosystems that sustain a diverse range of marine life, from fish and shellfish to seabirds and mammals. The pollution threatens their survival, altering habitats and contaminating food sources.
